Hoarding in Church Life with Dr. David Jackson

There is a TV show titled “Hoarding: Buried Alive” that depicts individuals that collect or “hoard” up all kinds of things. They collect without the ability to discard. There are some churches that are “hoarders” as well. They don’t have closets full of “stuff” but they “hoard” things that have long sense ceased to be effective. Things such as tradition, past successes, outdated programs and ineffective ministries. When a church “hoards” these and many other things, the end result will be plateau, decline and even the possibility of death. This episode discusses the problem of “hoarding” in the church and how to break the cycle. …with Dr. Steve Sells Host discussing “Hoarding in Church Life.”

David is North American Mission Board and the Baptist Convention of New England’s Church Planting Director and Strategist.

Evangelism As the Heartbeat of the Church with Jim Harris

In this episode we discuss the need for a renewed approach to evangelism and discipleship in the church. Many pastors today hold the view that evangelism in the modern church is dead and no longer useful. In fact some deem evangelism as “old fashioned” and “out dated.” However, without Biblical evangelism the church will surely plateau, decline and die. To grow a church you must lead people to Jesus Christ and then disciple them into the likeness of Christ. Evangelism must become the central focus of any local church that desires to be revitalized. Dr. Steve Sells, host discussing “Evangelism as the Heart of the Church.”

Jim is a retired Pastor/Evangelist.

How Small Churches Should Address Revitalization with Lester Evans

Small and bi-vocational churches face the difficult task of remaining spiritually healthy and effective in Kingdom work. Problems in the small church are magnified because of the size of the congregation. Patriarchs, matriarchs and other forms of power structures often become significant road blocks to any spiritual revitalization process. In this episode we discuss how the small church pastor can effectively deal with these uniquely magnified obstacles. Dr. Steve Sells host discussing “How Small Churches should address Revitalization.”

Lester is the Team Leader for Associational Partnerships, Baptist State Convention of North Carolina.

Churches Gone Wild with Ron Smith

The literal translation of Proverbs 29:18 says “Where there is no vision, the people run around wild.” In this episode we discuss the idea that without a vision from God the church will have little or no cohesiveness or unity thus bringing disunity and division to the congregation. We discuss how important it is that pastors and church leaders have a vision from God and know how to implement that vision. Because of a lack of vision many churches are answering questions that no one is asking. Without a vision from God the church will flounder and fail. The objective of this episode is to give new hope to a congregation that is willing to become visionary in ministry. Dr. Steve Sells, host discussing “The Church Gone Wild.”

Spiritual Warfare and Revitalization with Chuck Lawless

Satan is alive and well, especially during a church revitalization process. The word “revitalize” means to “give new life and vitality.” It comes from the word revival. Whether you call it revival, renewal, revitalization, etc., it is an affront to Satan and he will seek to derail it every time. In this episode we will discuss how Satan attacks the church with his efforts to distort and distract it from its work. We discuss how the church and its leaders must unite together and put on the whole amour of God in order to stand against Satan as the church seeks renewal. Dr. Steve Sells host discussing “Spiritual Warfare and Church Revitalization.”

The Church As a House of Prayer with P. Douglas Small

In this episode we discuss the absolute necessity of prayer in church revitalization. In our discussion we make the case that if a church is not praying there will be little hope for spiritual health or revitalization. We talk about prayer being the Key to giving new life to the plateaued and declining church. Prayer can bring back to life a church that is on the brink of closing its doors. Churches, like people, can become anemic and weak. That spiritual anemia can surely lead the church to a quick demise. This episode is a call for the church to come back to a deep dependence on God through prayer in order for the church to experience new life.
